FAQ
Why use MCG Golf Travel?
Who better to organise your trip than a single handicap golfer?
My first hand experience of golf and accommodation in Ireland will
deliver a holiday of a lifetime. My friendly personal service is
as guaranteed as your confirmed booking.
Now we've booked, what happens?
All bookings for your trip will be prepaid to guarantee your golf,
accommodation and transport requirements. We will give sightseeing
suggestions for the non-golfers in the trip to suit the trip plans.
On arrival to Ireland each group will be met by me. If the group
are chauffeured during the trip, the driver and vehicle will also
be at the airport upon arrival. However, if the group are self driving,
I will be there with you to help with the rental procedure. At that
stage you will be given all accommodation and golf vouchers for
the trip. Also included in your travel pack will be a detailed itinerary
with approximate travelling times, relevant maps, restaurant recommendations,
sightseeing suggestions and general information. Throughout your
trip, I will be on call 24 hours a day for you.
Can we change a sample itinerary to suit our trip?
The golf itineraries outlined on our website are only sample trips.
All trips booked with MCG Golf Travel are tailor made to suit your
requests and requirements. The Non-Golfers in any group will also
be catered for with sightseeing recommendations or organised tours
with experienced tour guides can be arranged. Itineraries can be
organised for any number of people travelling.
How far in advance should we book a trip?
Ireland is one of the top countries for golf tours with excellent
golf courses and accommodation to match. As it is so popular if
is imperative to book well in advance in order to secure your desired
trip. We recommend you book your trip 8 to 18 months in advance.
What standard of rooms can we expect in Hotels?
The majority of hotels in Ireland have three standards of rooms:
Standard, Deluxe and a Suite. All quotations provided by MCG Golf
Travel will include standard room rates, however deluxe or suite
accommodation rates can be provided on request. Standard rooms normally
have standard size beds (either two singles or a double). Deluxe
rooms usually have a queen size bed and a suite will typically have
a King size bed. This can vary with different hotels. In order to
secure a preferred size room or bed, please inform us at the booking
stage.
Can MCG Golf Travel organise our flights?
Unfortunately we do not quote or book flights for groups. However,
we will book any internal flights required during the trip while
in Ireland.
Do we need travel insurance for the trip?
We strongly recommend that each group take out travel insurance
to cover against accident and baggage loss. MCG Golf Travel is not
liable for loss, damage or theft of luggage or personal belongings,
or for personal injury, accident or illness, or cancellation of
the trip.
What kind of weather can we expect?
Any type and every type!!! No seriously, the weather varies due
to the fact that Ireland is surrounded by sea. The weather starts
to improve by mid to late April and disimprove by mid to late October.
All that can be advised is to come prepared for all eventualities.
What is the dress code for golf courses and restaurants?
Soft spikes are required for the majority of golf courses in Ireland.
Tailored shorts are permitted on the course but must be worn with
knee high socks. Jeans and tee shirts are not permitted. Smart casual
wear is acceptable in the clubhouse area, however some clubs do
request a jacket and tie to be worn. Smart casual wear is acceptable
in the majority of restaurants while some do require jacket and
ties to be worn.
Do we need handicap certificates?
The handicap limit at most courses is 36 for ladies and 24 for men.
We recommend that all golfers carry a current handicap certificate
in case the starter at a course requests it.
Can we get caddies or carts at each course?
Golf Travel can request caddies for groups if required, but unfortunately
we can not guarantee them. Motorised carts are only available at
some courses and generally not available at links courses. Pull
carts are available at most courses.
Is driving easy in Ireland?
Driving in Ireland in on the left hand side. Not all rental vehicles
can be guaranteed to be automatic.
